Julian thought he had come under the spell of the spirit of this body after discovering a corpse of a newborn girl pouring down the drain one day. As a result, in trying to recuperate from the soul’s power, they hanged the dolls all over the island as a tribute.
Don Julian Santana Barrera died in 2001. His body was recovered drowned in the canal, exactly where he claimed to have seen the young child. An old Japanese story claims that when certain individuals could not care for themselves, they were abandoned in the forest of Aokigahara, where they all perished from hunger.
