Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Amsterdam

When you arrive in Amsterdam, you will be greeted by a representative and transferred to your hotel. Overnight at the hotel

DAY 2: FROM AMSTERDAM: WINDMILLS & VOLENDAM

Breakfast at the hotel: Take a 6-hour private trip from Amsterdam to Zaanse Schans, a clog and cheese factory, and Volendam to experience traditional Dutch culture. Your driver and guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Amsterdam and drive you to the first stop of the day, Zaanse Schans, a region of the Netherlands full of historic buildings. Visit the windmills, quaint shops, and wooden houses. Above all, you can admire the town’s numerous old mills, each of which serves a different function: there is a paint mill, an oil mill, a sawmill, a spice mill, and more. The clog factory and cheese farm, two highlights of any trip to the Netherlands, will be the next destinations. Discover how the cheese is made and enjoy some delicious bites. After that, you’ll witness a demonstration of how to make wooden clogs. Visit Volendam next, a fishing community renowned for its raw herring and eel. Enjoy some fresh fish from a vintage cart while admiring the Dutch ship-filled old port. Put on a typical Dutch outfit, pose for a photo, and blend in with the Volendamers. Explore the various eateries and shops along the dyke (boulevard) in the town’s centre. The chance to eat a traditional meal after experiencing the best of the Netherlands will be fantastic.

Day 3: A Day Trip to the Keukenhof Gardens

Breakfast in the hotel:  The Keukenhof Gardens are among the most well-known in the world, thanks to their breathtaking hues, lovely scents, and more than 7 million tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths. Come along with us to see this stunning park from Amsterdam!

The Keukenhof Gardens’ setting served as Jacqueline, Countess of Hainaut’s herb garden and game reserve in the fifteenth century. This is how the garden got its name, which translates to “the kitchen garden.” The garden was owned by a number of different private individuals over the years before being purchased by the foundation, which changed it into the annual event that it is today—attracting millions of people from all over the world.

Keukenhof is now 32 kilometres long, 15 kilometres wide, and home to dozens of floral expositions, gardens, and works of art. Anyone who travels to Holland in the spring should not miss this sight.

Going to Keukenhof

This tour includes fast-track entry to the park as well as round-trip bus transportation from Amsterdam to the Keukenhof Gardens and back. The live English-speaking guide and multilingual audioguides on the bus will fill you in on a tonne of fascinating information about the gardens so that you can fully appreciate the setting when you arrive. Please be aware that the guide will not accompany you while you are in the gardens; instead, you are free to explore them at your own pace.

Day 4: Amsterdam-Salzburg

Breakfast at the hotel, check out and proceed to Salzburg by train. On arrival, check into the hotel.

DAY 5: THE SOUND OF MUSIC AND SALT MINES VISIT IN SALZBURG

Breakfast at the hotel: As the music fills the air, you can sense Salzburg’s allure. Follow in the Von Trapp family’s footsteps.

Take a genuine miners’ train deep inside a mountain!

  1. Mirabell Palace
  2. Nonnberg Abbey
  3. Felsenreitschule
  4. Schloss Leopoldskron
  5. Hellbrunn Palace
  6. Basilika St. Michael

This incredible package combines two of Salzburg’s most well-liked activities: a Sound of Music tour and a trip to one of the famed salt mines that helped Salzburg become so well-known. Visit all of the key Sound of Music filming locations in the city and the countryside, then put on your mining equipment and explore the hills in search of the ‘white gold.

On the Sound of Music tour, you can relive the classic film in the footsteps of the Von Trapp family. See the Mirabell Palace and Gardens, where Maria and the kids perform Do-Re-Mi, and Residenz Square, which Maria passes while singing I Have Confidence in Me as she travels by bus from Nonnberg Abbey, the location of the real-life wedding of Maria and Baron von Trapp in 1927, to the Trapp Villa.

The real-life Trapp family performed at the Rock Riding School prior to their escape from Austria after the Nazi takeover, making it a particularly significant location. In a standout scene from the movie, they sing Do-Re-Mi, Edelweiss, and So Long, Farewell. The famous “I am 16 going on 17” scene was filmed in the gazebo at the Hellbrunn Palace, not the Leopoldskron Palace, which served as the Von Trapp family’s residence in the movie.

Before finishing this portion of the tour, leave the city and visit the stunning church in Mondsee, where the wedding scene was filmed.

Continue on to one of the historic salt mines that are important to Salzburg, which means “salt fortress” in German. Receive warm, authentic-looking protective clothing at the mine to keep you warm!

Enter the mountain’s interior in an old miner’s train to explore this hidden realm of miles-long labyrinths.

Enjoy a raft cruise across a salt lake below ground while watching a multimedia show that will light up not only the underground lake but also your hearts. Play on the miners’ slides.

Important Note:

Please be aware that baby strollers or child carriers cannot be used in salt mines.

Day 6: Excursion to Hallstatt

After breakfast, travel through the breathtaking Salzkammergut region.

Examine the Hallstatt World Heritage Site. Reach Muhlbach Waterfall on foot.

Take this afternoon tour to Hallstatt to see one of Austria’s most picturesque villages. Enjoy the enchanted alpine region as you travel through the renowned Salzkammergut (lake area).

Your guide will meet you in Salzburg, and then we’ll depart on a picturesque journey to Hallstatt, the “Pearl of Salzkammergut,” passing through charming small-town communities along the way.

It’s difficult to know where to begin when you arrive in Hallstatt because the waterfront is lined with baroque-style homes, and the mountain peaks that reflect in the water make this a memorable natural experience.

For views of Hallstatt and to learn about its 7,000-year history of salt mining, take a mountain train up to the entrance of the oldest salt mine in the world. On your way to Muhlbach Waterfall, take a leisurely stroll along the lake to observe the homes that cling to the mountainside. To learn more about Hallstatt, visit the nearby museum. The Bone House is a must-see.

Return to Gosau Lake, which is renowned for its stunning views of the Dachtsein Mountains, after passing through Abtenau and Russbach for a picture-postcard conclusion to our tour.

DAY 7: SALZBURG TO ZURICH BY TRAIN

Breakfast at the hotel, check out and proceed to Zurich by train on arrival. Check into the hotel.

DAY 8: BLACK FOREST, TITISEE, AND RHINE FALLS

Breakfast at the hotel. Many Swiss tourists enjoy taking vacations in the Southern Black Forest in neighbouring Germany because of its extensive pine forests and secluded lakes.

We visit the Rhine Falls, Europe’s largest and most impressive waterfall, in addition to this charming area. The Titisee, located in the centre of the Black Forest, should be reached first by travelling along the Schluchsee. You can learn more about the construction of the well-known cuckoo clocks here. Take advantage of your free time, go shopping, and visit a cafe to sample the renowned Black Forest Cake made with cherry brandy.

Return to Switzerland and check out Rheinfall. Observe the rumbling masses of water as they thunder over the falls at a rate of up to 600,000 litres per second. You can feel the spray on your face during a brief boat ride that is directly billable.

The world’s highest train station is located here, at 3,454 metres (11,332 feet) above sea level, and the Swiss Alps are listed by UNESCO as part of the World Heritage of Humanity.

On your way to the Bernese Oberland, enjoy a scenic coach ride through the most beautiful parts of Switzerland. Continue to Grindelwald after taking a leisurely break in Interlaken, a breathtaking location sandwiched between two lakes. Once there, let the allure of this high-alpine wonderland of ice, rock, and snow draw you in. Experience the “Alpine Sensation” adventure tour, which celebrates the Jungfrau Railway’s 100th birthday. Visit the Sphinx Observation Terrace and Plateau as well, which offers the best vantage point for the surrounding countries, the magnificent Aletsch Glacier, Europe’s longest glacier, and the snow-capped peaks (subject to weather conditions). While you’re up there, make sure to explore the Ice Palace’s enchanted tunnels, which are hidden deep within the glacier and will provide you with an experience you won’t soon forget.
