Itinerary

DAY 1: WELCOME TO MONGOLIA

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital, and transfer to your hotel. Visit the Chinggis Khaan Museum and the National History Museum. In 2019, the Mongolian Cabinet built a nine-story museum for Chinggis Khaan, the legendary conqueror of Mongolia. The 20,500-square-metre museum is funded by 90% of the 2020 State Budget. The National History Museum of Mongolia is the largest museum in the country and has a collection of over 57,000 artefacts covering Central Asian history as well as Mongolian history from prehistory to the end of the 20th century. Ten exhibition halls house a portion of the museum’s collection. Your trip involves traversing Chinggis Khaan Square. Chinggis Kahn’s statue, which looks out over the square, is located in the centre. “Ulaanbaatar’s beating heart.” The city celebrates the Nadaam festival here with prizes, decorations, singers, and music. Enjoy a welcome dinner and a traditional art performance in the evening. Stay overnight in a hotel.

DAY 2: FLIGHT TO MURUN AND TRAVEL TO KHUVSGUL LAKE

Transfer to the airport in the morning, then fly to Murun, the province of Khuvsgul’s capital. This capital city was established in 1933 and had 40,000 residents. Our local service team will welcome us when we arrive at the domestic airport. Travel 110 kilometres more to reach Lake Khuvsgul, which is incredibly clear. Lake Khuvsgul, Mongolia’s largest freshwater lake, supplies 70% of the country’s drinking water and is protected as Lake Hovsgol National Park. It is over 2 million years old and clean, but visitors may not see wildlife like seagulls, marmots, cows, yaks, and reindeer. The lake’s natural habitat is the taiga, where traditional Tsataan reindeer herders live. However, some Tsataan families have moved to the lakeshore for tourism, making it unsustainable. Spend the night at a ger camp.

DAY 3: WALKING AROUND THE LAKE

We will enjoy exploring rare medicinal herbs and wildflowers while strolling around the lake today. Additionally, you can ascend a nearby mountain to get a bird’s-eye view of the lake. The park provides a wide range of recreational and sporting opportunities, including camping, horseback riding, trekking, biking, boating, and kayaking. It also offers nature sightseeing and educational excursions. Spend the night at a Ger camp.

The complex includes mounds, square burials, and 14 deer stones, representing Mongolia’s most clearly depicted deer stone. Dinner at the Ger camp; Drive to Khorgo Mountain after lunch; it is a dormant volcano that is located east of Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake. The mountain’s volcanic crater is 200 metres wide and 100 metres deep. Siberian larch forest covers the northern slope. Khorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan National Park, located in Arkhangai province, is a natural highlight with two famous attractions: Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, or Great White Lake, and the dormant volcano Khorgo. The park is rich in wildlife and flora and is designated to protect mountain scenery and endangered species. The 2210-metre-high Khorgo volcano, one of the ten volcanoes, became extinct about 8000 years ago. Visitors can climb the volcano and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding area. The lake is renowned for its fish and birdlife, including the Ruddy Shellduck and Great Cormorant. The park offers various activities, including swimming, trekking, mountain climbing, fishing, bird watching, motor boating, horse trekking, and nomad life experiences.
