The National Assembly, popularly known as Milli Majlis, Flame Towers—the tallest skyscraper in Baku, Highland Park—and the Alley of Martyrs stroll along the south-facing bay of the Caspian Sea’s Baku Boulevard. It usually begins in Freedom Square and travels westward to the Old City and beyond. The length of the Yeni Bulvar (New Boulevard) has nearly doubled since 2012, reaching 3.75 kilometres. The historical centre of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, is known as the Old City or Inner City. The Old City, the oldest section of Baku, is well-protected by walls around it. In 2007, there were roughly 3000 people living in the Old City. The Old City of Baku, which includes the Maiden Tower and Palace of the Shirvanshahs, was the first place in Azerbaijan to be recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in December 2000. For shopping, go to Nizami Street. It is possible to trace the origins of the street back to Baku’s municipal planning endeavours in 1864. From west to east, the roadway passes through the centre of the city. In the city’s mountainous area, it starts at Abdulla Shaig Street and finishes at a railway bed on Sabit Orujov Street, close to a memorial to Shah Ismail Khatai in the ‘Black City’. 3,538 metres is the total length of the street. Fountains Square is a public space in the heart of Baku, the nation’s capital. Previously known as Parapet, the square is frequently referred to by that name today. The term “fountains square” refers to the numerous fountains that are present there and were first built while Azerbaijan was ruled by the Soviet Union. The square is a popular gathering spot for the general public, especially after work and on weekends. Visit the 1960-built little village of “Little Venice” on Baku Boulevard. There are several tiny and two large islands in the town. Remain in a hotel in Baku.
